Polemarch - Lannie M. Milon, PhD

Dr. Lannie M. Milon Jr. is a Fall 1999 initiate of the Mu Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Georgia College & State University and currently serves as Polemarch of the Beaumont (TX) Alumni Chapter. A nationally respected educational leader, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Lamar University, and Chancellor of the Milon Institute of Technology, Dr. Milon has devoted his life’s work to one enduring purpose: helping people discover possibilities within themselves they may not yet see. Whether serving in classrooms, boardrooms, schools, churches, or neighborhoods, he believes leadership is measured by lives elevated.

Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Milon is a first-generation high school graduate whose educational journey reflects perseverance, determination, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education. He became the second African American male to earn the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Pennsylvania State University and the first graduate of Tri-Cities High School vocational track diploma program in East Point, Georgia, to earn a Ph.D. His career has included service as a teacher, principal, executive director, superintendent, professor, and educational executive. He was also selected as a finalist for Georgia’s Chief Turnaround Officer position, appointed through the administration of Governor Nathan Deal to help lead improvement efforts for the state’s lowest-performing schools.

As Polemarch, Dr. Milon’s vision extends far beyond fraternity administration. He envisions the Beaumont (TX) Alumni Chapter serving as a catalyst for community transformation throughout Southeast Texas. His administration is guided by the belief, Kappa Alpha Psi should stand at the intersection of education, mentorship, civic engagement, and service. Through the Beaumont Excellence Framework™, he seeks to create an intergenerational alliance where Senior Brothers, alumni, undergraduates, Kappa Leaguers, mentors, and community partners intentionally learn from one another while building a stronger future together.

Education remains at the center of the vision. Leveraging his role at Lamar University, Dr. Milon has championed opportunities for fraternity members to participate in literacy initiatives alongside schools participating in the Room to Read program, believing a single book, a caring mentor, or a consistent volunteer can alter the trajectory of a child’s life. His philosophy is simple: when a fraternity teaches children to read, it simultaneously teaches them their community believes in their future.

Likewise, Dr. Milon views financial literacy as an essential form of empowerment. As Vice Polemarch and Guide Right Director, he ensured every Beaumont Kappa Leaguer opened a checking account with PNC Bank, not simply to learn banking, but to begin building financial identity, confidence, responsibility, and habits supporting generational wealth. He believes economic opportunity begins when young people see themselves as capable stewards of their own future.

His commitment to service has also expanded the chapter’s community impact through innovative partnerships. Under his leadership, Beaumont Kappa League became the first and only organization in Texas recognized by FOUR Diamonds for raising awareness of pediatric cancer research. He established partnerships with the Kailee Mills Foundation to promote teen driver safety and has worked collaboratively with schools, nonprofit organizations, universities, health initiatives, and civic leaders to ensure the Beaumont (TX) Alumni Chapter is recognized as a trusted partner committed to improving the quality of life throughout Southeast Texas.

Professionally, Dr. Milon’s scholarship focuses on educational leadership, governance, organizational innovation, program evaluation, and TRY-Consciousness. His research and teaching are grounded in the belief leadership should produce measurable improvement in people’s lives, organizations, and communities. The same philosophy defines his fraternity leadership.

Above all, Dr. Milon believes achievement carries its greatest meaning when it creates opportunities for others. His vision is for every Brother, every Kappa Leaguer, and every community partner to leave each encounter better equipped to serve, lead, and inspire. Through compassion, collaboration, educational excellence, and purposeful service, he aspires to leave Beaumont stronger than he found it and to demonstrate that the true legacy of Kappa Alpha Psi is measured not only by the success of its members, but by the success of the communities they faithfully serve.
